WHAT? GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!

One of the hardest decisions I've made in the past three years was to go back to school. I want to be fully transparent about my decision and journey. One of my biggest faults throughout my life has been being a jack of all trades. I've been talented at many things, which can make it difficult to decide what to pursue, what to set aside, what to focus on, and what to ignore.
In the past seven years, I opened and later closed an acting school in Atlanta. The school was starting to do well until the pandemic hit in 2020. Even though it was gaining traction and I was acting at the time, I still wasn’t happy. Running the business became extremely stressful, and since it wasn't my original idea or goal, the onset of COVID-19 provided an opportunity to step back. Initially, I planned to reopen, but the break allowed me to realize how unhappy I was.

I began to focus more on my production company, which involved filming, editing, and producing my own variety show while continuing to perform as an actor and wrestler. Eventually, I pulled back from acting because it was never part of my initial plan; I had just stumbled into it. Wrestling has taken off for me, and I've won championships, received awards, and traveled all over the United States. However, I noticed that my production company and media career were not progressing.

I realized that media was evolving and that the ways people promote and consume content were changing as well. I felt that many of my skills needed updating. There were numerous mediums, apps, sites, and processes that I needed to learn about. After months of seeing ads for LA Film School on my social media, I decided it was time for a change. I needed to grow because I felt stuck in several areas of my life: financially, mentally, and in terms of knowledge.
The decision to start school was invigorating. I've learned so much, but I know there's still more to learn. The structured environment of a class and the grading system have positively influenced my learning process. While I'm aware of resources like tutorials, LinkedIn Learning, and YouTube, I've found that I learn better in a classroom setting. I’m still figuring everything out, but I feel optimistic about the future.
